The Priest is a very nifty class which combines the Healer with extended functionality at the cost of skill points and more difficult skill accessibility. The downsides of the Priest compared to the Healer tend to be somewhat muted. Its upsides however, are usually great. Access to both Healing and Divination at an early stage makes the Priest very proficient with many different races.
The Priest is particularly useful with the elven races. The High Elves benefit the most from a Priest as both Healing Magic and Divination buff the elves to much greater power levels. Healing can be a difficulty at times, but once the elves start to get tougher, healing becomes much easier.
A Priest can also be used as a reasonable substitute for a Knight Sage. In essence, the downside is that the Knight Priest loses 6 points of Divination, but gains 1 point of Ritual and 4 points of Healing Magic.
The Dwarves may also be reasonable candidates for a Priest. They may not gain the most from Telepathy, but Comprehension and access to the very useful Healing Magic spell sphere can be a good combination.
- Similarly with the Healer, focus all forces on the Priest, and it will be forced either to retreat or continuously waste mana healing itself.
- If the player is worried about a Psychic Blast, use ranged units to take the Priest down from afar. Fast units can then be used to run the weakened Priest down.
