Wraiths are basic infantry units.

The Wraith is an Undead unit with a very special ability to leech the EXP out of any unit it kills, and this includes Lair Bosses and Heroes! In those cases, given the high number of EXP such units have, the killer Wraith instantly ends being at level 20, a juggernaut at your command! This much desired situation is well worth the amount of crystal needed to summon a hunting party... Wraiths have a resistance to elemental attacks but are vulnerable to all physical. Like all Undead, the Wraith gets a natural combat bonus, and double regeneration rate, at night. Although floating units, which entitles them to attack fliers, neither Wraith nor Shadow may cross bodies of water.

Wraiths can be either normally produced, or summoned instantly by the Ancestral Hall building, but at a greatly increased cost. They can also be upgraded by the aforementioned building. Hence, they may serve as base defenders in emergency situations. However, Dark Dwarves are able to produce another Undead unit, the Shadow, yet at a greater cost and one research more, and this unit is far better, and an advanced one, which the Wraith is not... As a result, Wraiths' production should usually be bypassed by the Dark Dwarves that would focus on producing Shadows instead. Indeed, if crystal income is steady, Wraiths are only an emergency unit in case an EXP-leeching and/or a cold-dealing unit is needed, and a Shadow is not available. The Ancestral Spirit research allows them to be summoned instantly by Summon Spirit at the Ancestral Hall.

This floating, ice damage dealing creature is the other upgrade possible from the skeleton and would be nearly useless if not for one very interesting ability: if it slays an enemy, it leeches all its experience. Can be upgraded to the stronger and faster Shadow. The biggest drawback of the wraith is its vulnerability to physical attacks, at a time in the game when most attacks are physical. So be careful with them. Luckily, they can outrun most enemies when upgraded with the Haunting skill.
